DILG XI Personnel undergo Surprise Drug Tests
DILG XI personnel are required to submit urine samples which will be examined by PDEA Agents.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) conducted surprise drug tests for the employees of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) XI on December 11, 2018 at DILG XI Regional Office, Matina, Davao City.
“Drug tests should be conducted, especially on us who are government employees and we should lead by example of having a drug-free lifestyle,” DILG XI Regional Director Alex C. Roldan said in his speech.
Under Section 4 of the Executive Order No. 66, “Institutionalizing the Philippine Anti-illegal Drugs Strategy,” of President Rodrigo Duterte, all government entities should implement a drug-free workplace program and authorized drug testing among their respective officials and personnel. This is in accordance with the provisions of RA No. 9165 and other relevant issuances and circulars of the Dangerous Drugs Board and the Civil Service Commission.

RD Roldan said that it is the order of President Duterte to strengthen all anti-drug efforts which includes drug testing of government employees. Hence, the Department’s personnel should be examined since we are campaigning against illegal drugs.

An emergency meeting was called by the Regional Director which turned out to be a surprise drug testing. 97% (around 290) of all the employees from Regional Office and Provincial Offices attended and they were required to submit urine samples.
