On the 10th year of the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF), a team from DILG Regional Office visited two completed PCF projects and documented the beneficiaries’ success stories in the Municipalities of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental and Pantukan, Davao de Oro on September 22, 2020.
GovGen’s Good Local Governance, a gift for its people
“Blessed mi tungod kay nagkataon na awardee mi sa SGLG tapos PCF, ang among needs nahaom pud siya. Kaning PCF Project, very effective kaayo kay nakahatag mag education sa mga bata,” said Vice-Mayor Vicente D. Orencia on the completion and advantages the 2017 PCF Project entitled “Construction of School Building (Vocational -Technical School at Poblacion).”
The Voc-Tech Building is utilized for two purposes. The whole room can be divided into two. With this, it can be used for events and workshops and also, for holding two classes simultaneously.
Because of this, more enrollees are accepted in Governor Generoso College of Arts, Sciences and Technology (GGCAST) as there are now more available classrooms. Considering that this is the only school offering college courses in the municipality, it greatly helps the people in Governor Generoso. The students do not need to go to other college schools far away from their homes as such school offers great teaching standards.
Building Classrooms for Brighter Futures in Pantukan
Before, the school only accepted small number of students because of lack of classrooms. With the implementation of this PCF project entitled “Construction of four (4) Classrooms in Kolehiyo ng Pantukan (KNP)” where the allocation was downloaded to the municipality in 2015 and was right away completed in 2016, KNP was able to cater more students who can study without having to go to other provinces or cities.
“Grabe ka dako ang tabang sa amo. Every year, mas nagadaghan ang estudyante so mas kailangan namo ug classrooms,” Raffy B. Masig, a student and the SSG President of KNP, said.
KNP started small and over the years, it has been growing and improving. With the assistance given by the PCF Program, KNP was able to give a hand to those students who have the eagerness to learn and to study. The corners of each of the four classrooms funded by the PCF has produced outstanding graduates and eventually have landed on decent jobs.
