The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office and other government sectors led the discussions during the Multi-Sectoral Forum on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on August 17 at AL Navarro National High School, Lasang, Davao City.

AL Navarro NHS is the first school in Davao region wherein a youth forum was held. The activity was participated by Grade 10, 11 and 12 students.




The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) XI, in partnership with some government agencies, organized the ASEAN Youth Forum as they continue to engage the Filipinos, especially the youth, to better understand the government and its programs through conducting the said forum in schools and universities.

The forum focused on the goals of the Philippine chairmanship and on the three pillars of ASEAN – economic community, socio-cultural community, and political-security community.



Assistant Regional Director Wilhelm Suyko is the resource speaker from the DILG who talked about the Political stability and Security Community of ASEAN. Other resource speakers include Mr. Ahmed Datukan from Mindanao Development Authority, Ivy M. Uy from the Department of Trade and Industry, and Col. Glenn Jun C. Calambuhay from Eastern Mindanao Command.


An open forum was done after which was actively participated by the students and the teachers.
