The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) officer-in-charge Catalino S. Cuy calls for the DILG workforce and its attached agencies to attend to the pronouncements of President Rodrigo Duterte in his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) and to strengthen the on-going programs of the department.

Cuy stated that the police and military forces should be more careful and tighter when it comes to disrupting illegal drug activities and fighting against terrorism attacks.

With this, financial assistance will be given to the beneficiaries of those killed-in-action or killed-in-police-operations (up to P500,000) and wounded-in-action or wounded-in-police-operations (up to P250,000) as reflected in the approved Comprehensive Social Benefits Program (CSBP),

It was also guaranteed that the DILG and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) will be stricter in securing jails, that the Disaster Risk Reduction-Climate Change Adaption (DRR-CCA) is being practiced in local government units (LGUs) and that the Hotline 911 will continue to operationalize in more cities and provinces in the country.

Cuy said that the DILG and its programs will continue to assist the administration which envisions the Philippines’ next few years to be the “Golden Age of Infrastructure.” As of today, DILG has programs such as the Support to Conditional Matching Grant (CMG) to Provinces for Road Repair, Rehabilitation and Improvement Program, Special Local Roads Funds (SLRF), Assistance to Disadvantaged Municipalities (ADM), and Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA).

DILG, with the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Information and Communications Technology, delivered the pronouncements of PRRD in his first SONA last year in regards to the fast government service, specifically in processing the business permit and licensing system (BPLS).

The department also supports the campaign on federalism through symposia, orientation, trainings, and seminars in various LGUs throughout the country.

“Let us buckle down to work,” said by OIC Cuy. The DILG has been in the forefront in supporting the administration and the LGUs in achieving their goals and will continue to reinforce its interior and local governance sectors.
