On July 6, 2017 the cities of Davao, Tagum, Island Garden City of Samal, Panabo of Davao del Norte, Digos of Davao del Sur and Mati of Davao Oriental signs the Millennium Development Goals – Family-based Actions for Children and Their Environs in the Slums (MDG-FACES) Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the A. Venue Hotel, Makati City.
This program, is part 2 of the SDG-FACES project. It focuses on empowering mothers and women-headed households living in slums to take the lead in managing the Family SDG Covenant. The document contains the community’s proposed targets and actions to achieve them while also helping participants track their progress.
On the forefront are the Local Government Academy (LGA), the training arm of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), DILG Regional Office XI and city local government units.
The City Mayors, City Planning Officers and City Local Government Officers were oriented on the SDG and its targets, the logistics involved, and possible challenges the communities may face.
“Now that the SDGs are in forced, LGUs will once again take a lead role in policy development and implementation. I truly believe that all the mayors of this region will take action because they all wanted to advance human and sustainable developments in their areas of responsibilities,” Regional Director Alex C. Roldan stated. (MSM)
