The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) once again opens its door to its annual nationwide Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV). The SOV aims to pay tribute to the unsung and ordinary Filipino citizens and organizations whose services contribute to the country’s development priorities.

This is to recognize the pivotal contribution of volunteers to the Philippine Development initiatives.


DILG XI Regional Director Alex C. Roldan, CESO V enjoins all Local Government Unit (LGUs) to submit nominations for the SOV until July 15, 2017. The Search is open to individuals and organizations currently providing volunteer assistance in the Philippines. Individuals of Filipino citizenship - Filipino or local chapters of foreign/international non-profit organizations; and Filipino or local chapters of foreign/international corporate organizations are entitled to join the SOV.

The annual search will be conferring two types of awards, the National Outstanding Volunteer Award handed to an individual (youth and adult categories), or organization (non-profit and corporate categories) with exemplary volunteer service which made a significant contribution in uplifting the lives of people and communities served.
Nominations for the National Outstanding Volunteer Award, both for the individual and organization categories, will be adjudged using criteria like qualities of the volunteer; performance; and output or outcomes.
Meanwhile, nominees for the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award must be role models in promoting and advocating volunteerism and active citizenship through positive examples and best practices adopted and emulated by partners and stakeholders.
Since 2001, 138 volunteers and volunteer organizations have been recognized by the national government, through the SOV. Previous awardees include Senator Richard Gordon, Ms. Rosa Rosal, Mr. Efren Peñaflorida, Mr. Ricky Reyes, Philippine Red Cross, Girl Scouts of the Philippines, BPI Foundation, PLDT Employee Volunteers, and Metrobank Purple Hearts Club, among others.

Nomination forms can be downloaded at or may be obtained thru PNVSCA, NEDA, DILG-National Capital Region and Regional Planning Development Office of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Fully accomplished nomination forms must be submitted to respective Regional Selection Committees that covers the area where the volunteer or volunteer group is based.
